Caring for someone with PTSD can be hard. Sometimes, you put your own self-care on hold, and compassion fatigue and burnout can creep in, leading to thoughts like: "I'm tired of helping someone who doesn't seem to want help" and "Why do they keep lashing out at me? What have I ever done but help?"

You are their friend, relative, loved one, and your job isn’t to be their therapist. It is to provide support and love. It’s important to remind yourself that it isn’t personal, to claim your feelings, and to take time for yourself.

About

Welcome everyone! Guardians Anonymous is a support group for people caring for someone with PTSD. Our group meets in person for a chance to take some well-deserved time for ourselves, to partake in our relaxation pursuits (yoga, massages, wine tastings anyone?), and talk to others in similar situations.

Resources

Knowledge--both about PTSD and about the different support options available to you--can be a key component for success in your battle to help your loved one.
